In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and cream of tartar |
Add the ½ cup of water and the vanilla. |
Beat with electric mixer on low speed until combined, then on high speed for 7-10 minutes or until very stiff. |
Add the 2-4 tablespoons water if desiring thinner icing. |
*If decorating with more than one color, divide icing into individual bowls and tint with desired food coloring. |
**Tip: I like to use 8 oz. squeeze bottles for each of my colors. I outline each cookie first, and then I go back in and fill it in with the icing. If using more than one color to decorate, wait until first color is completely dry. |
